5 out of 5 stars Great stereo for use with iPod   May 11, 2009

Took a bit of a chance on this as I couldn't really find any reviews anywhere. My biggest concern was the iPod interface. Have to say - I've been very impressed.

First of all the unit looks good. The blue illumination is good, although perhaps a little hard to see in sunlight. No problem with the radio aspect at all...just like any other from what I can see. Sound quality seems fine, although this wasn't my biggest concern and I think my car speakers would let me down much more than the radio.

On to the bit I was most interested in - the iPod. It works really well. You plug it in (it doesn't come with a USB cable you can use the one that comes with the ipod) and it switches straight to it. It spends a few seconds searching the device and then it's ready to go. You can control everything from the unit. You press the search button to start choosing. The volume wheel acts as the control - initially you scroll through Artist, Playlist, Album etc. Then you choose your playlist etc. The on screen display works well. If you have a passenger you can also switch control to the iPod itself. The manual explains things pretty well. All in all I'm very happy with the product and would recommend it to anyone who is fed up of trying to find a free station for their FM transmitter!

4 out of 5 stars Very Good... But Very Bright   December 16, 2009

This stereo was very easy to install, took me around 5 minutes.
The sound quality is excellent.
The iPod user interface is superb: allowing you to scroll through artists, albums, playlists etc just as if you were using the iPod itself. Additionally, it even gives you the option to control the iPod itself should you prefer. It recommends the purchase of another Kenwood cable to plug in your iPod, however I have been using the standard lead that comes with your iPod without any problems whatsoever - possibly a marketing ploy to encourage people to spend additional monies that isnt really necessary?
The only complaint I have is that the blue/red lights are far too bright: not a problem during the day, but I actually find it really annoying/distracting when driving at night. I have turned on the 'dim' function but this merely dims the display, not the brightness of the lights, so no joy there. Why oh why did they make the lights so damn bright, otherwise it would've been a 5/5 product?!

Works very well. An excellent stereo for iPod. Connector is at the front and there are optional controls to allow you scroll. Comes with excellent Kenwood sound.
