I received this as a birthday present and to replace my security code locked Rover unit! Changing up from an old radio/casstte unit that is over 10 years old, I have to say that I wasn't quite prepared for this!
Fitting was a doddle. There is an adapter included that converts the standard wiring to fit the unit. This adds to the 'spaghetti' that has to fit behind the unit, when fitted into the console, making it a bit tight. In my old Rover 400, there is a small hole in the rear of the console that, with a bit of fiddling about, allows the extra wiring to fit in and to not foul the rear of the unit as it is pushed in.
I'm still playing with it and learning how to use it fully, but so far:
The radio tuner is far more sensitive than my old one and pulls in stations that I couldn't hear before, even with the silly little aerial that I replaced my vandalised Rover original with.
The CD player works well, with both commercially bought disks as well as CD-R's containing MP3 files.
The USB socket is the feature that I really find useful. The front mounted USB socket allows me to plug in a pendrive, from which I can play MP3 files directly. I back up all of my music in MP3 format and arrange them in artists and album folders. If the files are correctly tagged, you can scroll through the files, by artist, by album or by track title. It does mean that, with a large capacity pendrive, there is a lot to scroll through, but I've not found it to be a problem.
There are basic graphic equaliser presets and one custom setting. Output through the standard Rover speakers is adequate for my purpose and is plenty loud enough to drown out any road noise or noisy kids! The loudness button does help boost the bass a little, at lower volumes.
The front faceplate is detachable, so that you can take it with you when you leave the car parked up. Unfortunately Sony are a bit mean as they don't supply a case for it. I did obtain one from ebay, but it didn't fit! It wasn't all that good anyway and I found a great soft case by Case Logic (FP1).
Bottom line is that this is a great CD/Radio/MP3 player.
Regarding the problem the other reviewer was having with the radio not remembering the station settings. There are three basic ways of wiring the unit. There are two live feeds, one switched and one unswitched. I have had no problem with my installation and the radio does remember all of my presets (3 banks of 6 in FM), regardless of the ignition being turned off or the faceplate removed. The installation instructions show how the change two of the wires over, if your own car is different from the supplied set up.

I ordered this as a christmas present for my sister, mainly since it has the USB and the AUX functions, so she can use her ipod with it. Only thing I found which i didnt like was the fact that the radio doesnt remember the settings. I saved several radio stations, and then we parked the car, went out and when we came back, none of the stations had been saved in the memory, so I had to re-save them, and the same thing happened. This is very annoying!
But, apart from that, it looks stylish and works fine!
